Pay It Forward Giveaway

So, Swistle had this amazingly generous, give back to the world and share the love idea to do this continuous Pay It Forward contest. You know, rainbows and unicorns type world view. Originally I was like, oh I'll just enter as many as I can. But now (after an hour of entering these contests) I am so totally in! It's pretty easy.

Here's how it works:

*Leave me a comment. Tell me the title of a good book you recently read. (I'm always looking for good reads and especially since I'm doing this Book Blowout Thingy)
*My contest ends July 4th, Pacific Time
*Winner picked by random number generator, unless I am unable to figure it out and then i'll all the hundreds of entries into a hat and Shorty McShort will pick the winner.
*I'll send out the prize some time next week.
*Then the winner needs to Pay It Forward by then hosting their own pay if forward contest on their blog. If you don't have a blog, do something nice to someone to Pay It Forward and e-mail me about what you did. I will then blog about it. K?!

Sounds fun, doesn't it?!

Now for the big prize...a million dollars would be nice, but I don't have that to give unfortunately. So I'm thinking I'll just go find something fun to send to you. Maybe a book? Maybe some scrappy scrapbook stuff, maybe a stamp set? I don't know....I'll be thinking on all this!

So, leave your comment with a good read!!! AND...go here and click on a few (or all) sites who are also doing this Pay It Forward thingy!

OK, I'll bite.

I'm working my way through "Law of Similars" by Chris Bohjalian. It has a Jodi Picoult-ish moral conundrum that makes it interesting!

I've been so busy with my son I have not read anything fun in a year!

But before that I really enjoyed Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke.

I've got three for ya!

"Anchored In Love" by John Carter Cash. Biography of his mother June Carter Cash, wife of Johnny Cash.

"Certain Girls" by Jennifer Weiner. The follow-up (finally!) to her huge first novel hit, "Good In Bed."

"Quiet Strength" by Coach Tony Dungy. A man I have much admired since his coaching days with our Tampa Bay Bucs. He truly is a man of quiet strength.

I just read Watermelon by Marian Keyes and enjoyed it. One of my favorite deeper reads is Brideshead Revisited.

I just read "Before They Are Hanged" by Joe Abercrombie. Solidly in the fantasy adventure genre and a darn fine read. (Book two in a series of three...)

The Year of Fog by Michelle Richmond is awesome. I couldn't put it down!
Love your blog song, by the way!

I read the Twilight series recently. No, I'm not a teenager, but it was a fun read anyway.

What a fun way of doing contests! I just finished Twilight & really liked it (surprisingly to myself)

I also just finished Fearless Fourteen & have to say the Stephanie Plum series is one of my all time favorites!

Now I'm reading Double Cross, finally finishing up the Alex Cross series by Patterson, another recommended series.

I don't get to read for myself anymore. I'm reading HP and the Order of the Phoenix to the babies right now.

Oh, I have read SO MANY good books! The most recent was "The Other Boleyn Girl," which I didn't think I'd like, but I really DID!

The Kite Runner was fabulous.

Now I'm reading Water for Elephants and it's pretty good too.

Don't waste your time on Miss Understanding by Stephanie Lessing.

I highly recommend books by Shannon Hale. Most of her stuff is young adult, but so well written it is worth the read. The Princess Academy and Book of a Thousand Days are amazing. (I work with junior high and high schoolers so I read a big range of stuff.) Her first grown up book is called Austenland and is good, especially if you like Jane Austen books.

Hey there.. I recently read Diary of a Mad Bride, which was HILARIOUS!

I had to read Due Preparations for the Plague by Janette Turner Hospital for uni. Writing 3000 words about it kind of took the fun out of reading, but I still enjoyed it.

I'm in the middle of Jhumpa Lahiri's latest -- I love it.

The Virgin's Knot which is about a Turkish rug maker. It has moved everyone to whom I've loaned it.

I'm pathetic and haven't been reading much at all lately (at least not any fiction). I did read Amanda Soule's parenting book, The Creative Family and enjoyed that. And I've "read" a few cookbooks and a book about making books (which was pretty fascinating but I've forgotten the title). In any case, thanks for stopping by my PiF contest :)

Love in the Time of Cholera. A classic but I finally took the time to read it. Just finished it the other night- a very good read!

Thanks for coming by 3giraffes to enter our contest! I love finding all of these new (to me) blogs.

Bill Bryson's Shakespeare biography. Completely fascinating.

I too read Water for Elephants and liked it, but I would heartily recommend two books by Malcolm Gladwell: The Tipping Point and ... uh, the other book he wrote, I can't remember the title right now, but it's about how our intuition/snap judgment are usually on target. FASCINATING. Also includes background stuff about how Sesame Street was made.

OK..............."If You Could See Me Now" by Cecelia Ahern is good. Actually all the books by her are good..........."P.S. I Love You", and "Love, Rosie".

Just finished The Glass Castle, and while I really enjoyed it, it was also disturbing. Water for Elephants must be a hugely popular book now I guess; it is sitting on my nightstand as I type. Off to start it...

I'm excited to look for some of the books other people commented about. I just read the whole series by Stephen White who writes about a psychologist who ends up helping solve crimes. The author is a psychologist and puts tidbits about therapy and relationships in there, I found it to be a great series.

I just read "Message in a Bottle" by Nicholas Sparks. Good book.

"Friday Night Knitting Club" is one of my recent favorites. I also just finished reading John Grisham's "The Appeal" and it was great even though the ending sucked, in my humble opinion.

I am currently reading "A Heart of Any Fate" Westward to Oregon 1845 by Linda Crew. Historical Fiction. From the 1st sentence she caught my attention because of her strong voice. The story is based on a real family's journey to Oregon and it is written by a local Oregon author. She came highly recommended to me.
