Now I'm not saying that I am unsupportive of people not texting, dialing and talking while they drive. I do support that idea. I just think it's a bit crazy to feel the need to make it a law. I wanna say, "hey people....get a grip and just be responsible, stop texting and driving". But alas our WA lawmakers have deemed that their constituents are unable to do this and now need a punitive law to encourage responsible driving cell phone usage.
Yup, if you're "caught holding a mobile phone to your ear" you risk a $124 ticket. Oh, but there is a loophole. Should you need to dial 911, you're welcome to do it sans hand free device. Thanks oh gracious lawmakers! And, the violation is a so-called secondary offense. That means an officer must first stop the driver for some other violations, such as speeding; then the cell phone offense can be added to the ticket. (But I've heard mention that it's really not hard at all to find a primary offense...it can be something as simple as not using your turn signal.)

With having said all that I am off to charge my blue tooth and am mourning the devilish idea I had yesterday that I didn't do. I thought, wouldn't it be fun to drive past a police officer and hold my phone to my ear and look at him/her and stick out my tongue with a nyah, nyah type of look. Yeah, I didn't do it. I chickened out. With that, I'm off to enjoy my child-free day thanks to my gal pal Shari. Yeah, love childcare trades, I have her cherubs tomorrow!!!
