Haiku Friday

Oh so so tired.
awake at three in the morn.
whimpering child.

cannot fall asleep
despite complete exhaustion
is this part of age?!

Yeah, so what the hell is this all about?! This is NOT the first time this has happened or I'd probably just take it all in stride. Whenever, and I'm saying 99% of the time I wake up after 3am I cannot fall back asleep. Then just about 5:00 (close to alarm time) I am ready to sleep. This is too much for me. I am a girl that needs her sleep.

Shorty is fine, she was just doing some whimpering in her sleep and Mr. Tall got up to check on her, but I cannot help but we awakened by this activity. So now I find myself on the couch. I was reading. Then I turned off the light and laid down on the couch. No. Sleep. Came. So what is a girl to do but blog it?

So today I am headed to an elementary school in Portland that has been teaching k/1 blended classrooms for many years. I am going to learn as much as I can and to ask good questions. Because yes my friends, Janelle is teaching a k/1 blend next year. As if moving to first grade wasn't a big enough change for this year she is doing it again. Two years of big changes. I love education and cannot image working a boring job where everyday is the same. And I cannot yet completely visualize what next year will be like...so....lots of thinking to do, questions to ask and organizing in my head.

I'm sure that will help me sleep, right?!

Happy Friday to you. For more haiku click here.

Happy Blogaversary To Me!!!

Ok, so it's my first blog birthday. Happy blog birthday to me!! Here is my first post. It made me giggle and I'd forgotten that Shorty McShort had surgery over spring break last year.

This has been an interesting journey, my first year of blogging. I have been a bit neglectful of my blog as of late, but I am resolving to change that.

So, leave me a comment. Tell me how much you just love my blog :) (shameless, I know)

And, in honor of one year, I shall write a haiku for Haiku Friday (it's been a while since I've done this)

one year of blogging
am i any better off?
maybe a little

held some giveaways
participated in memes
held a survey too

blogged for one whole month
not sure how i pulled that off
November 08

complained a little
and a little bit more too
oh yeah and some more

overall it has
been a lot of fun to do
will keep on going

Please leave me a comment. I am curious how many people read me daily. I'll make it so even you, Katie can comment. Oh, and it might be fun if you tell me about your favorite post or why you read my blog. Ummmm, thanks ;)

Haiku Friday

Home From Black Friday
Crabby, cranky,rude shoppers.
Can't they just be kind?

People get trampled.....
Stop the madness already!!!
They're just sales people!

That's all I have. Seriously. Each year I go out for Black Friday I say I'll never go again. Where is the kindness? Where are your manners? If you ram your cart into me, just say excuse me or oh, I'm sorry. But NO! Black Friday seems like a license to be a jerk. I saw on the news that a Wal-Mart worker got trampled and killed this morning. What is our world coming to?

Haiku Friday

decisions, standards,
algebra...i'm off to math
committee today

Don't hate me because I get to have a day away from my noisy short people, whom I have grown to like a lot...maybe you could say "love". Don't hate me because I get paid to help make decisions on a committe, for which I have to plan my day to be gone. Don't hate me because I'm so stinking witty and can write udderly ridiculous posts.

This is going no where and my head hurts. Happy Haiku Friday to you. Click here for more 'kus.

Haiku Friday

Friday Finally
a very very long week
first graders tire me out

Yeah hi out there. I know I've been fairly scarce. I'm still trying to figure out how to teach first graders. I have a feeling this feeling won't change for some time. Yeah....nice, I know. I'm admitting that I know next to nothing. Ok, not nothing. My friends assure me I'm doing great. (thank you friends) It would just feel so much better to feel like I knew what the hell I was doing. Ya know?

And with that I'm out. Happy Friday to you all. We've got a pumpkin patch party this weekend, I have a nail appointment and Mr. Tall works on Sunday. Fun times. Monday takes me to a district math committee meeting. Wish me luck.

Haiku Friday Look Back

So I'm thinking Haiku Friday is the perfect time to reminisce and look back at my Shorty McShort's life. So here we go.... (forgive the fact that i'm totally taking pictures of my scrapbook...we've had a couple computer crashes and a theft since her birth....digital of the early days don't exist on my machine!)

so greatly pregnant
you took your precious sweet time
two freaking weeks late

completely worth it
instant love is what we felt
like nothing before

eight pounds nine ounces
twenty and one-half inches
good size they all said

first year flew by fast
pictures taken monthly--oy!
oh so innocent

then you were one year
and the time started warping
almost four years old

you're talking, walking
turning into a young girl
who knows what she wants

very curious
so smart, so independent
growing up so fast

More waxing nostalgic to come and the big 4 birthday is Sunday...Princess Party on Saturday with her princess friends. 80's party tonight at sister-in-law's and family party at my place Sunday...let the fun begin! (and house cleaning!!!)

Haiku Friday

october is here
simply unbelievable!
time flies by too fast

the leaves are falling
shorty will have a birthday
then the pumpkin patch

how to make time slow
i feel like i'm missing much
just not enough time

do i do too much?
what to give up? i don't know...
want to do it all!

twelve hour day....yuck!

I'm tired, Thursday was a really long day! I'm so thankful the weekend is here! Open house was nice. Fourteen of twenty families came. Not bad. The ones that didn't come I wanted to meet. Such is life though!

Do you have plans for the weekend? I'm playing with my friend Liane on Saturday. I'm excited!!

Haiku Friday

poor shorty mcshort
bad case of pink eye got her...
oozey gooey puss

"mom, stop the pricklies"
she'd cry to me. poor baby.
bed time was the worst

all gone, so i thought
but alas, no! puss returns!
no daycare today....

dad's turn to stay home
how much longer will this last?!
infection be gone!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously people....we've been dealing with this since Sunday night...medication since Monday morning....make it stop!

Haiku Friday

first grade is brutal
god bless primary teachers
they work so so hard

my feet really hurt
my quadriceps are aching
i shall squat no more!

my head is aching
calgon take me away now
thank god it's friday!!!!!

bring on the vino
let me sleep in until eight
and then take a nap

So all in all, first grade is kicking my ass. Seriously. I thought third grade was challenging...it's got NOTHING on first grade. I can't even imagine teaching kindergarten! If you have a child in kindergarten or first grade you SERIOUSLY need to take them a gift. Like flowers or a coffee or a gift card and more than anything, just tell them thank you!

Some days are just that challenging. Shorty is going to daycare today. I need a day of fun. Radical...Irrational...Too Complex to Be Real is coming to play today. I can't wait!

Haiku Friday

going to the zoo
feel really painful to me
it's always the same

need a prolonged break
lions, tigers, bears, OH MY!
see ya in a year.

So, don't think me a bad mom. Or I guess go ahead and think me a bad mom. I don't care. Alright I do care. I really want everyone to like me, but seriously...I don't think I can take another zoo trip for a while. Maybe it's because we've been members for two years and we (I) always feel the need to "pay for it".

Some friends from work met up at the zoo yesterday. We had a nice time, it was a cool day. We got a great show from the hippos too. I was of the thought that those wily beasts just laid around all the time, but nope. I. was. wrong. Yesterday they were swimming and putting on a show.

Happy Friday to all. I'm headed to work.

And, for more Haiku Friday go to Jen's Place.
